Private John W. “Willie” Bond

Willie Bond was the adopted nephew of George Bond and his wife Martha Bond (nee Williamson). We believe that Willie was actually born John Williamson in 1898 at Underwood, Notts, but was known as ‘Willie’.
In 1901 the family was resident at ‘Old Westwood’ - Palmerston Street and Willie is listed as their nephew, along with their niece Kitty Williamson.
George Bond was an inn keeper at the ‘New Inn’ Old Westwood and his wife Martha assisted him. He was later licensee of the’Gate Inn’ Westwood.
Willie is listed on the Absent Voters Roll as serving as Private 304890 Sec. Reinforcement Wing in the Army Volunteer Reserve.
