PASS, John William Dunn

Private John William Dunn Pass
Regiment Unknown

Listed on the Jacksdale War Memorial as ‘W. Pass’ and thought to be John William Pass of 10, Victoria Street, Ironville a coal miner banksman, possibly son of Charles Pass and Martha (nee Dunn). John took the name Pass but was born John William Dunn in 1890 at South Normanton, Derbyshire. John was possibly Martha’s younger brother, as her father George Dunn died in 1892, so Martha may have taken responsibility for John’s upbringing or, otherwise, he was a a child she had out of wedlock, before marrying Charles Pass in 1896.

Martha and Charles had a son in 1899 named Charles Sydney Pass, born at Ironville.

No military records seem to have survived.
