Driver Robert Greaves
270297 6th Reserves Brigade, Royal Field Artillery
Robert was the son of Robert Greaves, a coal miner from Calverton, Notts and Rebecca Spencer born Somercotes, Derbyshire. Robert was born at Pye Hill in 1873. He had brothers and sisters Walter, Thomas, William, Sarah, Frederick, Florence, Harry, Annie and George, all born at Pye Hill.
In 1892, Robert married Ann Elizabeth Ailmore (born Codnor) and they had children Florence, Alicia Adelaide and Robert Ethelbert born 1899 at Westwood. In 1901 the family was living at Pye Hill, but by 1911 Robert and Ann and family had moved to Franklin Road, Jacksdale.
Robert is listed on the Absent Voters Roll of 1918/1919 as absent from Weston House, Laverick Road, Jacksdale. (Weston House is in fact on Providence Road, which may then have had an address of Laverick Road.) His Medal Rolls Index Card lists that he was a recipient of the British War & Victory Medals.
Robert died on 26th January 1956, resident of 75 Laverick Road (possibly Providence Road), Jacksdale. Probate to Robert Ethelbert Greaves, colliery worker and Wilfred Dawes, retired miner.
