His Medal Rolls Index Card records that he was awarded the British Medal but, for reasons unknown, some 20 years later the medal was returned to the Mint in 1937 by the Derby Police. No further information relating to his military service has been forthcoming.

Albert married Emily Green in 1920 in the Basford District and they had one son named Albert born 1920.

Albert’s father, Albert Goodall senior died in 1930 aged 32 and is buried at St. Mary’s, Westwood.
