The Butterley Company’s Roll of Honour - ‘Names & Particulars of Employees who have left the Butterley Company to serve the country in the European War of 1914′, mentions a R. We have not been able to find a Robert John Fletcher on the 1911 Census who has a convincing connection with the Jacksdale area. He was most likely born elsewhere and moved here after 1911. There is a family named Fletcher at Old Westwood in 1911, head of the household listed as John Robert Fletcher b. abt. 1869 in Holbeck, Leeds but there is no son named Robert John Fletcher residing in the household and we have been unable to find a connection with this particular family. On the BMD, a Robert J Fletcher married an Annie Gore in the Basford District in 1913 and they had a son named Robert in 1914 and a daughter named Martha in 1915 in Basford.
Further information would be welcome.
