Able Seaman/Wireman C1 Gerald Temple Dance

Gerald was born on 14th October 1895 in Nottingham, son of Frederick Walter Townsend Dance by occupation a printer born London and Caroline Mary Dance (nee Betts). He had elder brothers Walter Augustus Dance b. 1886 Sheffield and Percy Raymond Dance b. 1888 in Sheffield. In 1905 his mother Caroline died and, in 1906, Gerald’s father married Ada Wragg. In abt. 1908 Gerald’s half brother George Edward Dance was born. In 1911 the family was living at 7, Mabel Grove, West Bridgford, Nottingham.
In 1923 Gerald married Mabel Annie Cook in the Belper Registration District but we do not think there were any children.
We have not been able to find out about Gerald’s naval career but we have located his entry in the Naval Medal Rolls Records and this tells us that he was awarded the British War and Victory Medals.
Gerald re-married in December 1966 in Claro, North Yorkshire and died there in 1994 at the grand old age of 99.
