Sound Recording - Olga Cook nee Hanson

EOlga Cook (Nee Hanson) was born at New Westwood in 1924. She remembers playing ‘lurkey and paper chasing over the Westwood ‘Dumbles’. Then there were regular visits to Codnor Castle as well as the special Sunday School outings up to the Monument. Those were the days when a fish n’ chip supper was shared with neighbours over a game of cards. The Westwood shopkeepers were very obliging, breaking down packs so you could buy just one egg or one oxo if that’s all the funds would run to that week. A lovely recollection of life on a small street full of friendly village folk. Photo: A Trip to the Codnor Park Monument 1920s/1930s.
