The Jacksdale Heritage Group are currently in the process of building up a newspaper archive of articles and family announcements relating to Jacksdale, Westwood, Pye Hill and nearby areas. You can download a copy of our index so far, see below for more information. From this collection we hope to gain an insight into life in this area from the mid 1850s to the present day. Much of this information will be used as reference for our new book, ‘Jacksdale & Westwood, Their Tomorrow for our Today’ due to be published late 2014. The book will show how our villages evolved and what impact the First World War made upon how life has changed from 1914 to 2014. We are also currently creating an index of articles held with the facility to search on a family surname so you can find out if your relatives and ancestors have been mentioned in the local press.
