BOOK LAUNCH – Down in Dingyshire

ON SALE NOW – 60 Pages, A4, full colour £5.95

Arriving in his Parish of Ironville on a dull day in 1870, The Rev. WE Littlewood, second vicar of Ironville, is filled with dismay.  Industry had ‘battered the face of nature’ and  ‘over the general landscape lay a heavy fog through which vast sheets of lurid flames shot up into the air from blast-furnaces, and the regular throbbing’s of big pumping- engines mingled with the less periodic crash of tremendous steam-hammers.’

But as he takes up his position as leader of his flock, Littlewood starts to see the beauty that actually surrounds him in this ‘paradise of canals and other watery ways’. Against this backdrop, a rich cast of village characters live out their everyday lives and the Reverend is soon to realise that although the villagers’ lives may contain little ‘sweetness or light’ many are nonetheless ‘on the road to heaven.’
