John Priestley was born in 1885, at Sheffield, son of John and Selina Priestley who later moved to  3, Jubilee Cottages, Pye Bridge, Alfreton, Derbyshire.

From information kindly provided by the Sherwood Foresters Roll we know that he enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.  Regimental records indicate that he was killed at Cite St Theodore, Lens, France.
