We know very little about this serviceman, except to say that he was born at Basford, Nottingham and enlisted at Mansfield, Notts. His connection with Selston has not yet been established.
We do know that Bernard Hudson died of his wounds and is buried at Mendighem. Mendighem, like Dozinghem and Bandaghem were the popular names given to the casualty clearing stations (Mending 'em, Dosing 'em and Bandage 'em). There are 2,391 Commonwealth burials of the First World War in the cemetery.
