ARTHUR HENRY HARPHAM |
Private 9062
2nd Btn. King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
Died Sunday 30th August 1914, Aged 30.
Commemorated: La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine et Marne, France.
We know very little about Arthur Harpham except to say that he is mentioned in a local newspaper in 1916 entitled 'Selston Roll of Honour' which states :-
"The following are the names of the Selston men who have fallen in the service of their country, and for whom a memorial service was conducted at the Parish Church, as mentioned last week :-
Private Arthur Harpham, Yorkshire Light Infantry, missing since August 1914, now believed dead, aged 30 years."
Arthur Harpham is commemorated at the La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, which commemorates nearly 4,000 officers and men of the British Expeditionary Force who died in August, September and the early part of October 1914, having no known grave.
Further information would be most welcome.
