George Clarke was born in 1894, son of Henry and Sarah Clarke of 2, The Villa, Pinxton, Derby.  He was also the husband of Alice Clarke (who later re-married taking the name of Wharmby), of 49 Sherwood Rise, Nuncargate, Mansfield.  

We have no further information about this serviceman.

The Arras Memorial commemorates almost 35,000 commonwealth servicemen who died in the Arras Sector between Spring 1916 and the 7th August 1918 (the eve of the Advance to Victory). It was from April to May 1917 that the Arras Offensive took place.
