Albert Bacon was born in 1886, son of Elisha and Rebecca Bacon of Alma Street, Selston. He was also the husband of Edna Bacon of 39, Fox Grove, Old Basford, Nottingham. His father, b. 1857 Elisha was a miner, originating from Annesley and his mother b. 1857, originated from Kimberley. Albert had two brothers George Charles b. 1875, a miner and Arthur b. 1880. He also had a sister named Harriet Ann b. 1891.
The Commonwealth War Graves Debt of Honour indicates that Albert was later transferred to a Training Reserve. During the war, the UK became an 'island fortress' used for training troops. There are 170,000 war graves in the United Kingdom. Nottingham Church contains some 79 burials of the first world war.
