Sidney Adams was born in 1897, son of George & Eleanor Adams of Lindley Street, Selston. The 1901 Census lists the family as follows: -
George (Occupation - Miner) b. 1866, Eleanor b. 1864, Olive b. 1889, William b. 1891, Ann b. 1892, Bernard b. 1894 Sadie b. 1899, George b. 1901.
Sidney enlisted at Eastwood. At this stage we have no further information about his service career but we do know that he died of wounds aged 21 years of age. The cemetery where he is buried was used by the nearby casualty clearing station of the same name. Bandaghem, Dozinghem and Mendighem (Bandage'Em, Dosing 'Em and Mending 'Em) were the names given to the casualty clearing stations by troops posted to the area in WW1.
