Information Submitted by G. Clark:-
(Sk.Lt. John Main, RNR) was sunk by the German motor torpedo boat S-112 off Eddystone in the English Channel on 2 October 1942. The wreck is broken in two and lays in position 50º11'150"N, 04º08'350"W. The ship is identified through it's builders plate. I have checked the position and it seems to be slightly east of the Eddystone rock. I have sailed past this area on many occasions and I have no idea what lies beneath the surface. I found the MTB S-112 on a German U-Boat site. I have asked one of the diving schools in Plymouth whether anyone has dived onto the wreck and if anyone has photo's. I don't hold out much hope though as the strong currents do not make it a comfortable dive.'
Leslie is remembered on the Lowestoft Memorial as one of the ..' men of the Royal Naval Patrol Service who died in the defence of their country and have no grave but the sea.'
