(Also known locally as 'Jacksdale Street') He is listed on the memorial as 'Brookes' but on the electoral roll as 'Brooks'.  He is also listed as an employee in the 'Butterley Company's Roll of Honour  - Names and particulars of employees who have left the Butterley Company to serve the country in the European War of 1914'.  Joshua is listed as working as a labourer  before his enlistment on 29th September 1914. A note on the roll indicates that he lived at 9, Jacksdale Row and that he was married.
