IN HONOUR OF 'JACK. S. DALE
ALL MY LIFE STARTED HERE,
GROWING UP IN A TIME OF FEAR.
YOU STOOD THERE ON YOUR STONE TOWER,
TO MARK THOSE WHO DIED IN OUR FINEST HOUR.
WE CAME TO HONOUR ALL THESE MEN,
AND EVERY YEAR WE CAME AGAIN.
I CARRIED THE FLAG AS A CUB AND SCOUT,
BUT NEVER DID YOU NOT LOOK OUT.
WITHOUT A SHOUT YOU FELL TO THE GROUND,
YOU FELL TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT A SOUND.
THEY TOOK YOU AWAY FOR EVER AND A DAY,
BUT NOW YOUR TWIN IS HERE TO STAY.
TO STAND FOR YOU WITH PRIDE ONCE MORE,
FOR ALL IN THE VILLAGE TO LOVE AND ADORE.
